The 7 commandments of networking!
Bit of a cheat this time, as I'm linking you to another blog I picked up on today, from our Facebook page news feed, of all places – a link to an article on home working website www.enterprisenation.com!
The 7 Commandments of Networking
This has been written by founder of women’s business networking group Sugargroup, Geraldine Brooks who asks why shouldn’t networking be a fun, enjoyable way of being part of a supportive community learning from each other.
She has suggested 7 ‘commandments’ for successful networking, which for me hit the WorcNet networking ethos nail on the head! What do you think? Would you suggest any other ‘commandments’ that we should adopt?!
Seven Videos all Educators Should Watch...
Hi all
I know there’s a lot of you involved in teaching/training/development whether it’s from a professional or personal viewpoint. All college staff have recently been forwarded the below link to ‘Seven Videos that all Educators Should Watch’ and I thought they may be of interest to you whether or not you work with students – great food for thought about the impact of technology on our world…
Enjoy!

Enterprise Nation
Welcome to the first ever WorcNet Blog post! I know; a truly momentous occasion! I've been umming and ahhing for ages about how to make a start and after a considerable amount of cogitating, deliberating and digesting, have realised that none of that actually gets a blog written and that the best thing to actually do is to JUST DO IT!! So, here goes...
I wanted to share a great website with you all, which was founded by an amazing woman called Emma Jones and which is the UK's largest website for people starting and growing a business from home. Emma set up Enterprise Nation in 2006 having started her first home business at the age of 27, successfully selling it just 15 months later following a career with an international accountancy firm. The website has attracted national press headlines and monthly readership of more than 60,000 people. Enterprise Nation also runs the Home Business Awards, produces the annual Home Business Report and advises Government and Regional Development Agencies on how to encourage and support homeworking.
Emma and I have spoken a few times on the phone and via e-mail and we were aupposed to meet up before Christmas when she was at an event in Leeds, however, I was ill and so couldn't make it. She was speaking last night at a Business Link Yorkshire event in York, part of their Starting and Growing a Business from Home campaign (click here for more info) and contacted me to see if I was going to be there, so finally we managed to meet face to face!
Her talk was very informative, inspiring and entertaining; as usual at these events there were some great people doing amazing things and the networking afterwards was really good - so much so that I had to make a swift exit from a very animated conversation about Twitter as I suddenly realised that the car park I was in closed in 10 minutes and I didn't fancy spending the night in a York multi-storey!
Anyway, if you're working from home (or 'at home', depending on how you think of it) or are thinking of it, take a look at enterprisenation.com. It's a completely free resource, sends out excellent newsletters and bulletins - read the latest one here - and has a thriving community of like minded home workers just like you!
I love to hear from you so click on Contact Us to let me know what you think...
